OUR STORY

Born from Courage, Built for Community

My Sisters Hands of Healing was founded in 2022 in Dallas, Texas, from a deep desire to restore hope where trauma once lived.

HOW WE BEGAN

Our Story

My Sisters Hands of Healing was born in 2022 in Dallas, Texas, from a deep desire to restore hope where trauma once lived. Founded by Moriah, a survivor turned advocate whose own journey became the foundation of this work, our organization began with one purpose: to help youth and adults heal, rebuild, and thrive. Following a night of profound violation in 2010, Moriah lost everything, dropping out of school and experiencing homelessness with her two children while fighting to reclaim her identity. She was not broken by this trauma; she was shaped by it, building a refuge she once desperately needed.

We recognized early that healing requires more than counseling. It requires immediate security, connection, and real opportunity. Through Youth Life 360, we provide year-round leadership, trades coaching, and life skills for youth and young adults ages 10 to 24. Through Family Evolve, we walk beside adult survivors and families to build lasting stability, providing active employment development alongside vital monthly hot meals and food distribution.

Our work thrives through partnership. With Neighbors in Action Outreach, a community resource development center in the heart of Dallas, we connect families to essential services from childcare to housing support. Together with Prince to King, an organization providing over 80 trained and vetted mentors, we ensure our youth have consistent guidance and safe spaces to grow. Looking forward, our upcoming 2027 partnership with Impact Workforce Solutions will launch a brand-new career training center, unlocking technical training and job placement for families and youth 16 and older.

Since our founding, My Sisters Hands of Healing has helped hundreds of individuals find stability, healing, and purpose. We believe that healing is not just recovery; it is total restoration. Through collaboration, mentorship, and holistic support, we are helping Dallas families rise stronger, healthier, and more connected than ever before.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Moriah

There are moments that arrive without warning and alter the entire course of a life. For Moriah, that moment came in 2010 during a night of profound pain and violation that would have broken many. But Moriah was not broken; she was being shaped.

In the years that followed, she walked a long and courageous road toward healing, one marked by faith, perseverance, and an unshakable belief that her suffering had a purpose greater than herself. That conviction led her to found My Sisters Hands of Healing in 2022, building from the ground up a place where other women and young people could find the same refuge she once desperately needed.

As Founder and CEO, Moriah leads not from a boardroom but from the heart. She understands what it means to feel unseen, to start over, and to discover that healing is not the end of the story. Instead, it is the beginning of a far greater one.

“What tried to break me built my purpose. Healing is how I fight back — and how I help others win.”
